Removing Wipes and Cotton Buds From My Life

Lately I have started removing wipes and cotton buds from my life. They are both not good for the environment and I really want to do my part and stop the waste.

Make Up wipes

Ever since I started wearing makeup I have always removed it with wipes. When I first started a skin care routine I still used a wipe first before moving onto the products. The problem with makeup wipes is that not only are they bad for the environment they are also bad for your skin. Your makeup is not fully removed and they are harsh on your skin. So I have stopped using them completely. Originally I was still using them when I was being lazy or getting home late as I thought it was a quick way to remove my makeup; but I’ve since realised that if anything it takes longer to take my makeup off with a wipe. To remove my makeup I now use a couple pumps of Soap & Glory’s Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk and rub it into my skin. Then I take a face towel and wash it off before doing the rest of my skincare.

Cleaning wipes

Since moving into the flat and having to do my own cleaning I have always used antibacterial cleaning wipes. One of the problems with cleaning with wipes is that you have to use quite a few for each room. Now instead I use antibacterial spray and reusable cloths. Not only is this better for the environment but it works out a lot cheaper as you are not having to buy wipes all the time. The surfaces also look a lot cleaner.

Cotton buds

I use cotton buds a lot so I was throwing so much plastic away. A couple weeks ago I was watching a YouTube video and I found out about these bamboo cotton buds. I did not know that they were a thing but I needed to buy some. They are made by a company called Alyn and are made of bamboo and organic cotton. They are also 100% biodegradable. On amazon they are priced at £3.99 for 200 so they are more expensive than regular cotton buds but I think they are definitely worth it. It does also work out a lot cheaper to buy more as a pack of 800 is only £8.99.
