Watching The Disney Classics

Anyone who knows me will know I am obsessed with Disney .I LOVE Disney films but there were some classics I had not watched before (I know it’s terrible of me) I think Joe and I were talking about Disney films and Joe suggested watching them all as there were some neither of had seen.

I thought I would write a blog post about some of the film I hadn’t watched before. Before I start I will admit we did skip a couple of films out:

  • Fantasia
  • The Three Caballeros
  • Make Mine Music
  • Fun & Fancy Free
  • Melody Time
  • Ichabod & Mr Toad
  • Fantasia 2000

I did watch Fantasia 2000 when I was younger but we decided to skip these as they are the less popular films. If you have watched them let me know if they’re worth watching.

The Rescuers

This was one of the films Joe remembered watching when he was younger. I had never seen it but I did really like it. The woman is awful, I can’t believe how horrible she was too little Penny. Penny is so cute and I really liked the ending of the film.

Basil The Great Mouse Detective

This was an interesting film. I didn’t like it that much but I also didn’t dislike it. It was an okay film but I probably wouldn’t bother watching it again.

Rescuers Down Under

I enjoyed the second Rescuers film as well. I’m really glad that the same mice were the main characters as I liked them in the first one. I do also like it when sequel films keep some of the same characters. In my opinion the first one is better but this one is still good.

I don’t know why I haven’t watched this sooner! It is now one of my favourite Disney films. I loved the songs and really enjoyed the storyline (apart from the end) I was so disappointed when John left and didn’t end up with Pocahontas; I like to think he came back for her after his wound was healed.

I had heard things about Mulan before and it was not like I expected. I had heard it was quite controversial when it came out so I assumed that Mulan and Li Shang fell in love while she was still portraying herself as Ping. You can tell Li Sang does have some feelings towards Mulan (as ping) but I saw it was more of a brotherly relationship, I don’t think it came across as romantic. I did really enjoy watching the film but I not impressed with the sound of the live action version. I don’t understand why Li Shang will not appear.

The Emperor’s New Groove

This was hilarious! I think I may have watched parts of this before but I couldn’t remember what happened. Joe absolutely loved this film; I think it is now one of his all-time favourite films. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would; we kept quoting it for days after. My favourite quote is “Hey, I’ve been turned into a cow. Can I go home?”

Home On The Range

I had heard of Home On The Range before but I had no idea what it was about. It was an okay film. I did enjoy watching it but I probably would not watch it again.

Chicken Little

I had no idea what this film was about but it was interesting. A little bit weird at times but an okay film. Again I probably wouldn’t watch it again but I didn’t dislike the film.

The Wild

I had no idea that The Wild was a Disney film. The animation style and the feel of the film do not have the same feel as a Disney film. It really reminded me of Madagascar and I couldn’t help but compare. I did enjoy the film but it did not have the Disney feel that all of the other films do.

I have wanted to watch Bolt for a really long time (not sure why I never got round to it) I loved it! Bolt is adorable; we actually said Rory reminds us of him even though they are clearly not the same breed. We also decided that’s Rory’s costume is sorted for Halloween. I did feel sorry for Bolt as his whole life had been a lie. Loved the film and would definitely recommend.

Hope you enjoyed reading my opinions. What is your favourite Disney film?

    1. It is such an underrated film! Definitely one of the funniest films I have watched.

Yzma is a really likable villain

  4. Mulan is one of my fave Disney films! I’m so sad about the sound of the live-version, it seems the only character they’re keeping is mulan but the others make it so much more interesting! “I’ll make a man out of you” is also such a bop!

    1. I don’t understand why they want to change it so much. The other live action films have done so well and they didn’t change much for them. I love that song too
