My Top 5 Slimming World Meals

My Top 5 Slimming World Meals

A year ago today I made one of the best decisions I have ever made; I went to my first slimming world group. I have wrote a previous post talking about why I joined slimming world and how I found the first 6 months so I will link it here in case you’re interested in reading that. In a year I have managed to lose 5 stone 1 pound! I am so happy with how I have done and I can’t believe I’ve found something that works for me. I honestly love slimming world and I would definitely recommend joining to anyone who would like to lose some weight or would like to improve their lifestyle. For my slimming world anniversary I really wanted to write a post about my 5 favourite slimming world friendly meals I have enjoyed cooking and eating this year.

All the recipes are cooked in the oven at 220°c. A lot of the recipes are with homemade chips, we make these by:

Washing the potatoes and then cutting them into chip shapes (don’t bother peeling them). Place them on a tray. Spray with frylight and then season to taste. The seasonings we like to use are either Schwartz All Season paprika & onion or Schwartz peri peri seasoning. Then we cook them in the oven for 30 minutes.

Chinese curry

This was something Joe and I had made in the past but we’ve improved the recipe since joining slimming world. It is super easy to make and it’s a cheat way of making a curry.  Our favourite meat to use is chicken breasts but we have also tried it with turkey.  The rice we use is just simple Morrisons steam & serve boiled rice which takes 3 minutes in the microwave. We usually have peas and frozen mushrooms which again cook in the microwave for around 10 minutes.  Probably one of the best and most important parts to the curry is the curry sauce. We use mayflower medium curry sauce which takes 5 minutes in the microwave. This is such an easy meal, however it’s not really a meal you can sit down for a bit while cooking as you constantly have to put things in and out of the microwave.

Syn Total: 8ish (Curry sauce is 4 syns per potion and I like a lot curry sauce. I’m not great at measuring out the curry sauce so this is a rough guess)

Crustless Bacon & Mushroom Quiche

This is a slimming world recipe I found when I first joined and was one the first recipes I tried. Again we pair this with chips. We also have some Morrisons frozen steam & serve vegetables that take around 10 minutes in the microwave.

Syn Total: 0

Chicken Nuggets/Strips

If you didn’t know chicken is one of my favourite foods and I love chicken nuggets and chicken strips. I follow quite a few slimming world food bloggers on Instagram and a lot of them shared this recipe. This recipe uses your Healthy Extra B so it can be syn free. To make the breadcrumbs blend 3 slices of wholemeal bread until its small crumbs then mix in your seasoning of choice. We like to use either the Schwartz chicken seasoning or the Schwartz peri peri seasoning. Whisk an egg in a bowl and cut up the chicken. Dip the nuggets in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs and place on a tray. Spray with frylight and cook for 20 minutes.

Syn Total: 0 if using HEXB

Burger In A Bowl

I have only very recently tried this slimming world recipe but it became a favorite straight away. i had heard a lot of people talking about this and saying it tastes like a McDonald’s Big Mac (I definitely agree). It is really quick and easy to do. You cook the beef mince (make sure its 5% mince) and onion for about 8 minutes, while doing this you are meant to make the sauce but I don’t bother with this; instead I use Heniz Burger Sauce. I am too lazy to make my own and it’s a lot of ingredients that I might not use for a while so they’ll end up going to waste. I pair this dish with fries which I cook the same as my usual method but instead of 30 minutes they cook for 20 minutes. I line a bowl with lettuce, put the meat and fries in, then cover with cheese and sauce.

Syn Total: 6 syns (Burger sauce 3 syns per 1tbsp) cheese is used as my HEX A

Full breakfast

My favourite breakfast to have is a cooked breakfast but they are always seen as being really unhealthy. It’s crazy that you can eat fried food and it will still be syn free if you use frylight. I love that the majority of a full English is syn free. Sausages are high in syns (the Morrisons ones we used to buy are 3.5 syns per sausage!) so we have now switched to Linda Mccartney vegetarian sausages which are only half a syn per sausage. We first tried these round a friend’s house and couldn’t believe how nice they were so now they are the only ones we buy. We usually have a full breakfast as brunch on a weekend.

Syn Total: 3.5 (1.5 for 3 sausages and 2 syns for butter, I don’t actually properly measure out butter I only roughly syn it)

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and finding out some of my favourite slimming world meals. If you would like any more information about any of the meals feel free to ask in the comments.

  1. These look good! I’m glad you’ve mentioned that you don’t peel potatoes for chips – so many people do yet they’re much nicer with the skins on and contain so many more nutrients and antioxidants! I love making sweet potato chips as well, which I guess is also pretty healthy 🙂

    1. Thank you. We fancied trying them with the skin still on as loads of pubs do skin on fries. I didn’t realise they had more nutrients but that’s really good to know. I think I should try sweet potato as a lot of people say it’s really nice x
