Chester Zoo

I absolutely adore animals and ever since I was a child I have loved going to the zoo. The last time I went was about 3 years ago but before that it had been years. One of my friends and I have been talking about going to Chester Zoo for nearly a year so for her 21st birthday we said we would definitely go.

Chester Zoo is about a 2 hour drive from here but was a simple enough route to get there. However on the way back there were a lot of traffic delays and it took us an extra 45 minutes to get home.

Once we were there we were like children we were that excited. We had pre-booked our tickets as they are cheaper online and all they have to do at the gate is scan the code on the email. Pre booking tickets makes getting into the park a lot quicker as you don’t have to queue to get your tickets and then queue to get through the gate. Also as you go through the gate you are offered a map of the zoo. We took a map as I wanted to make sure we didn’t miss any animals out.

Both of our favourite animals are elephants, so we made sure we took plenty of pictures of them. We also went to look at them a few times. I love penguins as well so it was great seeing them. There aren’t many animals that I’m not keen on and I just love the atmosphere of the zoo and seeing all the animals. As it’s the summer holidays it was very busy and very crowded so there were a couple of times where it was difficult to see the animals, but as some people carry on quite quickly we didn’t have to wait long to get a closer look and be able to take some pictures.

We didn’t eat lunch while we were there but we did buy some doughnuts. Hot sugar donuts are the best kind of doughnuts. One thing that I did quite like (might be weird to say) was the lids on the cold lids. They weren’t the standard lid where you need to use a straw they were like hot lids where there is a drinking hole. I thought this is a really good idea especially as it reduces the amount of plastic used.

One of my favourite things about going to attractions is the gift shop. I get so excited in a gift shop and have to stop myself from going mad and spending way too much money. All I bought was a penguin teddy. I was going to buy a small one but decided to get a bigger one instead for £14.99 which I thought wasn’t too bad of a price.

I had a brilliant day at Chester Zoo. I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommended going to anyone.
