TV Shows I’ve Recently Loved

I love finding new TV shows to binge watch and getting completely invested in the lives of people who don’t really exist. So I thought I would love about the ones I have recently watched and loved.

Follows the lives of brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott as they travel through high school and college. The two brothers face among their friends the ups and downs of relationships and friendships. The pain of lose and love. The joy in family and friends. Lucas and Nathan do not start on the best of terms but through many hard times and struggles find the best in each other. Marriage, divorce, break-ups, birth, and death play a huge role. (IMDB)

I remember watching a couple episodes of the later seasons when they first aired and I really enjoyed them but just never caught up. I’ve heard a lot of people recommend One Tree Hill so I thought I would give it a go. It was really weird watching the earlier seasons as I already knew about some the characters relationships and what happened later on but that wasn’t a problem. I really enjoyed the first few seasons when the characters were at school, I think the first few seasons are my favourite as there was a lot of high school drama. To me seasons 6 and 7 weren’t that good and got a bit bring however seasons 8 and 9 were really good. I managed to work out as well it was season 8 I had watched before as I recognised a few episodes. I would definitely recommend One Tree Hill to anyway who likes high school/ teenage drama shows.

Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, YOU is a 21st century love story that asks, “What would you do for love?” When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way. (IMDB)

Once I’d finished One Tree Hill I wanted to find another show I could binge watch. I’d seen a lot about You on social media and heard it was very popular. It is 100% my kind of show. I found it gripping and I couldn’t stop watching it, I just had to know what was going to happen next. It had some good twists as well, I did manage to guess one thing that was going to happen but there were still lots of other surprises. The show is told from Joe’s point of view and he also narrates it, because of this you can’t help but like him.  Obviously he is creepy and bit psycho but his character is really likeable and you almost feel like you could forgive him for what he has done because of his reasons behind his actions (don’t worry I obviously don’t think stalking and murder is okay).  I can’t recommend You enough and I am so excited that they are currently filming season 2!

A teenage boy with a sex therapist mother teams up with a high school classmate to set up an underground sex therapy clinic at school. (IMDB)

After I finished watching YOU I spent ages flicking through Netflix waiting for a show to grab my attention. Again I’d heard a lot of people talking about this so thought I’d watch it. I really enjoyed watching it and I was a bit disappointed when I got to the end of the season, I expected there would be more episodes than there were. It’s really funny and I think it’s a relatable show for teenagers and young adults. I completely agree with other people who have said the atheistic of the show is a bit weird. It’s a British show but has more of an American high school feel and it’s also set now (I think? They all have smartphones) but it feels like the 80’s. Either way I’m looking forward to the next season.

I’m always looking for recommendations so what shows have you watched recently?

  1. I finished you in less than 48 hours and i dont feel any bit guilty about it haha! It’s such an interesting and new plot, really amazingly written.
Also, if you do like korean series, there are some good ones in netflix! I would suggest prison playbook or memories of the alhambra! :)x

  2. I loved You and Sex Education! I was put off at first at how popular they were because I didn’t want to be disappointed if I didn’t like them, but I thought they were really good. I would definitely recommend Ozark and A Series of Unfortunate Events for Netflix series!

    1. I was the same way, sometimes I find things can be a bit overrated and it puts me off. I’ve thought about watching A series of unfortunate events before but haven’t yet, I’ll definitely add it to my list

  3. I watched a few episodes of You and couldn’t really get that into it. I felt it was too much like Dexter, another show I couldn’t get into, maybe it was the constant narration that put me off but despite me trying repeatedly to like the show I just can’t.
